I had a chance to read a few chapters in this book, and I must say, Douglas Boze must be my long lost twin, from a different mother. He shoots a 300 WSM to hunt bear, Carries a 45 side arm for protection, has a 30-30, but would like to buy a 45-70 as the bear brush gun, and loves lever actions. All of my vintage machines are analog, although I program Embedded Linux. Even Boze admits that a 300 WSM can be a bit much on a black bear, unless you can find a 350-500 lber, fairly rare in the lower 48.

Nice to see vitals, shot placement, and especially in comparison to a deer, as I am familiar with that. All in all, this is a great book, I wish I had something like this for blacktail. This is the best black bear book I have.
